Today we started our day with a meeting with the staff of Habitat for Humanity Paraguay. They answered questions about the affiliate, what kinds of loans are available and where they build.
We then headed to the work site where our plan for the day was to fill in the foundation with stones and cement, dig out the cess pool and cut rebar into sections to be used to reinforce the brick walls when they start to go up.
The cess pool needs to be 2 meters deep (6ft).
For break we had sopa Paraguaya, which is called the "World's only solid soup." It is a cornbread style food. It is made with barley, corn, onions and other ingredients.
For lunch we had a macaroni and beef dish and for dessert we had Budin de Pan, which was like a bread pudding that was baked with drizzled honey on top. It was very good.
After lunch we resumed our work on the cess pool and filling in the foundation.
We ended the day with about half of the foundation being finished and the cess pool approximately half way done as well.
Tomorrow our focus is going to be on completing the cess pool and the foundation, with moving on the leech field when possible.
